    Note: Unless a paint requires baking for the polymers to cross-link and cure, baking only reduces cure time. Baking a coating that does not require baking does nothing to enhance the durability.

    Alumahyde II but not baked. It takes 2 to 3 weeks to fully air cure. Baked does not improve the quality of the paint, it just speeds up cure. It is an epoxy so the cure is chemical and not heat related. As stated, prep is critical. It also helps to heat the parts with a hairdryer before...

    You could do that, but an AR is aluminum and is worth more as scrap. You could apply that to your AK purchase.
