That's the second time I've read what seems to be the idea that you can still kill a doe during a buck only season as long as you do it with a bow. It doesn't work that way.

Or am I reading this wrong?

The way I read it you can kill a doe on private land with a bow anytime during deer season but not on public land

See attached. It’s always been my understanding that if shooting bow/crossbow you can kill either sex, even on duck only days for firearms.
