10mm is pointless

I've never shot a 10mm. How is the recoil on it?
To me it is no worse than .357 Magnum.
Depends on the load. Have shot loads which were very pleasant and and recoil no more then a .45ACP ball loading, and others which were 200gr hot loads that to me felt like a hot .357, but not unpleasant, due to the long recoil of the action because the case is long the force of the recoil is spread out over a long period making recoil quite manageable in my experience, but you do know you are lighting off something more then a 9mm or a .40.
S&W 1006= meh. Kicks a lil.
G20= Ouch. Makes my palm tingly.

Lets go back 'for some of you young fellas was born....
The 'Cop' only carried 38s. The view was that them 357 MAGNAMS would kill little old ladies miles away. Yea, the State Bulls sometimes carried them but they shoot through car doors.
The Army boys carried them 45s. ( I had a Chief who just knew that all of those 45s would go off some time on their own. He's dead now, no loss. )
Then the Army started looking at those little 9mms. Being pushed by politicians who had pushed Europe/NATO to accept the 7.62.
Gun makers saw a good thing and started making nice little weapons in 9mm. The Military went thumbs down on the 9s.
The gun makers saw a market and went with it. Good PR and salesmanship made advances.
I was on the SO in '73 when Smith & Wesson came out with a new large capacity 9MM, the Model 59. The Sheriff was sold on them and we all bought one, with our own money.
Better in any drug raid than any 5 shot chief. They gained popularity.
The 45 boys got jealous of all of the rounds that could be fired with out changing mags. The pushed for bigger mags and something that could/would handle the big mags. Didn't work out well.
Some designers came up with the idea of squeezing the brass down so more rounds would fit in the mags and pushing the bullets out fasted to give close to the same energies. The 10MM was born.
Cops being cops don't like big heavy guns or guns that go BOOM real loud. Got to remember this was back when all of the bleeding hearts were getting out of Universities with degrees in things that explained why little Billy was acting up in public. Before they figured out that they could very well get their A$$ shot. End result were the the 10MM got wimped down and became the 40Cal.
When I got out of street work, we had city owned S&W Model 15s. The new place was issuing S&W Model 10s with light barrels. By the time I retired they moved to S&W Model 66s and then to those d@m% glocks in 40Cal. (the first run glocks did nothing for me, had 1 fall apart in my hand and a second totally lock up, all in the same week)
So to the original title of this thread. Yep, totally pointless unless you happen to like them. Same is said for all of the others. I even picked up a 40Cal a few years ago. No it will never replace any of my 45s. But then my little ARs will never replace my Garands or M1A. Don't think they are supposed to.
Complain about any of them all you want. Won't get more than a grin out of me.
