2024 garden thread

Tried to post a pic or two of my fruit trees but it says "file too big". I'm on my 4th gallon of blueberries as of this morning. Almost a gallon of elderberries in the last week and a 5 gallon bucket of granny smith apples yesterday. The deer got all but 2 of my plums but I enjoyed the ones I got.
You have a mother load of blueberries. My wife pics the bush and we have only got a pint+ so far. Looks like it will be sparse this year.
I'd be mad about the plums. I love em!! When I was a kid, we had some wild plum trees I'd check every once in a while. They were usually only the size of a quarter, but I enjoyed them. Usually not many and never a regular thing

set your camera on a lower pixel setting, OR get a image resizing app...they are quite simple to use, and easy to download

Or, just take a screenshot of the photo and upload that.

The small patch of corn i planted as an experiment is doing ok. Tomatos are doing well and now pushing out fruit. I have maybe two pumpkins on the vine, but the rootstock has been attacked by borers. Really really bummed about that. The larger of the two pumpkins is about the size of a milkjug.

I also have a ton of random potato growth but IDK if the soil is soft enough for them to push out. The small ginger patch is doing good. Lots of wildflowers popping up all over the yard from the last two years of seeding random spots. That video on soil science has been a boon for getting my junk clay soil into something worthwhile

Got a nice haul of banana peppers this morning. There are twice this many unripe on the plants. Not bad for 3 plants only 40” tall

For some reason all of my corn is dying. I've watered it consistently at dusk over the last week. I wonder if its the tapwater in my city?

Pumpkin is about the size of a milkjug and i have ~6 watermelons about the size of oranges. I'm gonna spray some neem oil on them and on the pumpkins to keep the bugs away

From what I’ve read it is better to water for longer duration less frequently. I’ve been watering my corn every 4 days. I got it out very late but it is looking pretty good. Chlorinated tap water could be a problem as well. We have county water in the house but well water we use in the garden.

i've had one since about 2021 still runs perfectly. its installed a ton of fencing, trees and taken the edge off digging large holes

I broke down and bought a flatpack greenhouse for my wife. I dont have the time to build one from scratch and this one so far has been "ok" for the money. No serious mods required to get all the peices to fit
