223 Deer Ammo

64 Grain soft point or a Barnes Copper bullet 70gr or bigger. Avoid polymer tipped varmint bullets. They have thin jackets and softer lead. You want penetration in the event you hit bone, not immediate and dramatic expansion.

I can recommend Barnes Vor-Tx, 55 grain TSX ammo.
My daughter used that round on deer when she began hunting. I killed a couple with it myself. Almost all were DRT…a couple ran but not far at all.
Monolithic bullets seems to perform better with more speed, that is why I went with the 55gr.

what 223 Factory ammo do you recommend for whitetail deer? 100 yards maximum shot.
I shot 3 side by side with this. Dead right there. I couldn't find much of their hearts when I gutted them.
