2K CASH Looking to purchase a decent running vehicle, a gas saver preferably. I have 2K cash

I bought a pretty ****ing clean 2014 mazda 3 6 speed right at the start of the scamdemic...it is worth 3k more than i paid for it today. never thought I would see that happen.
I have watched several videos about the used car market lately. One video showed and example of a 2020 Rav 4 selling new for MSRP around $32K in 20. In 2021 it sold again for a little over $62K. Now I don't know what friggin moron would pay that much for a Rav 4 but that's beside the point.
In early 21 one of my bosses traded in a 19 Z71 Trail Boss on a 21 Tundra. Pitts Toyota in Dublin put $43K in his trade. I have no idea how they made any money on reselling that truck. They paid OVER the payoff amount. Insanity...

A new Camry SE in 2012 was 20k (before taxes). If you say inflation is 2 percent a year that car should be about 24k today. It’s NOT lol.

It’s a pickle.

I hate to see so many people priced out of a car they could afford several years ago.

In 2018/2019 new limited tundra double cab was 37999, I could get a nice Silverado 4x4 4 door for 33-35k. Now you come close to doubling them prices in the last 5 years which is bonkers.

My guess the average middle class family is not buying or going into massive debt for something that traditional always will go down in value (it has wheels as Dave says).

Sure like those 87-96 extnd cabs.
Enough room for big dog and if
you hafta slam on brakes they're
protected by front seat backs.
Nowadays not much offered other
than 4 door trucks.
Okay, now I'm ready for full view
of the 67-72 blue F-hunert behind
the '96.

I was in the same boat with a buddy this weekend. His budget was $4k. The market is a complete **** show. Right when I was tired of looking a 2002 Avalon with 102k miles popped up 10 minutes from us. We grabbed it as fast as possible.
