3" and 3.5" 1911 chat

Got a few officer and defender size 1911's.
Personally I really like them especially for a tote 1911, short, lighter, and more compact?
Generally IF I am carrying a 1911 its either my Springer Officers alloy frame or a steel framed ATI Titan (defender size.)
both weapons are very reliable, accurate and easy to tote.
I did own a Colt Stainless officers model many years ago that no one could get to run 100% even on FMJ's. but that was a long time ago.
I find that as long as you keep up with recoil spring changes they seem to run fine for me, that's one thing about them they do go through a lot of recoil springs and pretty fast.

Sig makes a solid 1911. IMO the officer sized models are hit and miss. You get one that works or you don't. There's a reason all the big name makers WC, NH, EB and LB don't bother with the small frame 1911's. I'd stay away from Kimber unless you buy it from someone you trust. Dan Wesson makes a really good Officer model with the ECO.

Straight off the Ed Brown website:

Executive Carry
The Executive Carry is essentially the Executive Elite modified for carry. It's the solution for those who prefer a smaller model 1911, but insist on complete reliability. The slide has been reduced to the minimum possible (4.25") without significantly impairing the legendary reliability of the 5" slide. The frame has been modified with the innovative Ed Brown Bobtail® housing which reduces the projecting butt of the mainspring housing without sacrificing the full size frame and magazine capacity. The Bobtail® minimizes the print under your jacket when carrying and reduces weight. Officer's frames reduce magazine capacity and limit grip, while keeping the projecting, sharp butt. Slides shorter than 4.25" are notorious for reduced reliability. These problems are eliminated with the Ed Brown Commander Bobtail® configuration, which reflects the genius of John Browning with an innovative modern flair. The functional simplicity has yet to be matched. Unique with the Executive series pistols is the 25 LPI checkered frame and "half checkered" Bobtail®. This pattern is not too rough on the hands, but not too fine for a secure grip. The Executive Carry is truly at the top of its field. Get promoted to an Executive Carry - it's a serious tool for the competent professional!

Thanks for the info. I've been eye balling the CCO as well. That might wind up being a better option. Too many choices and not enough money to buy both.

I LOVE this little guy....runs like a champ! And sub 500 dollars.(used)...

I prefer full size as well, however I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry and have been very pleased with it. A lot lighter and smaller than a fullsize and eats anything I feed it.
