I've heard a lot about both rifles. I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks as to which one is the better brush rifle.

30-30 or 45/70

unless you plan to kill a buffalo, i would go with the 30-30.....plus the ammo is cheaper
They're both excellent rounds imo but when you kill with the 45-70, its just more fun!
As far as brush goes...I try not to hit any when hunting!!!

they're both good, 30/30 is "faster" if you will, 45-70 is a thumper and more fun, but 30/30 is the more cost effective of the 2. 45-70 is good for reloading if you do that but it's 6 one half dozen the other.

LOVE the old .45-70. Has worked extremely well for me for years! Reloading brings forth all kind of fun!
A friend of mine doesn't know whether to get an SKS or a 45/70 handi rifle.

I love the good ole 30-30. The 45-70 is a good round but like the previous post it's just to much for anything around here. Ammo cost is also a major consideration. The 30-30 is just a good all around cartridge. Hogs, deer, bear, it will do it all very effectively. If I was in Alaska there would be no debate. 45-70!
