45 host that won’t break the bank

I like my XDm. I paid $499 a year or so ago from Cherokee. Threaded and suppressor sites already installed.

Same here. It was a pretty good deal at the time. I have shot it with a suppressor on it, and it's fun to shoot. For the money it's not a bad choice. Also, someone else mentioned the M&P 45, which would be a little bit cheaper. I am a pretty big fan of the M&P line. So you might want to check them out, too.

For what it is worth, we metered a USP45 and Remington R1 with the same can on the same date, and the USP fared better.
You'll probably have to register to see the data/thread

Octane on USP45, 10 shots suppressed, mean value 129.7dB (161.4dB unsuppressed)

Octane on Remington R1, 10 shots suppressed, mean value 136.7dB (163.8 dB unsuppressed)

Just for comparison, on a different day.
Obsidian on USP45, 10 shots suppressed, mean value 128.2dB (161.5dB unsuppressed)

A 7 decibel difference between hosts with the same suppressor, same ammo, and similar barrel length? Is the port pop on a 45 that much louder than the suppressor?

if not the 1911, for 45 I like FNX and Sig 227, both have a tactical model with raised sights and threaded. Or you could get a non-tac model and buy the barrel.

Hard to say why that measured higher. Just to note, those are all at the standard 1M in front of the muzzle locations. More recently we started taking measurements at shooter's right & left ear as well. Location impacts readings as well.

We also used the same R1 with a Liberty Cosmic and had a median value of 131.5dB (161.5dB unsuppressed)
and a Osprey and measured a median value of 131.5dB (161.5dB unsuppressed)

I just went back to the tables and noticed that all the testing was done with Wolf 230gr ammo except the R1/Octane combo used Winchester White Box. Could be an influencing factor.

A data geek could sort through all the data gathered and probably make some interesting observations.

Silencer Co sale extended too

Most threaded barrels I’ve found online are a minimum of $250 plus fitting by a gunsmith. So let’s say $350 maybe to get a threaded barrel for my 1911 then add on suppressor height sights, let’s add another $100. So at $450 for a suppressor ready version of mine. Yeah not doing that when I can buy something like an Xdm for $500 with a threaded barrel and suppressor height sights already.

Not sure where you are looking but I just clicked on the sico link and can get it for 220. The few I have required no custom fitting.

I don’t know what link you’re going to because when I check silencerco’s website I no 1911s listed in the drop down for the threaded barrels. And either way, even if it’s $220 plus $100 for sights I’m still getting into the same range as buying a new gun, I don’t see the point in it. I’m not gonna pay more than 50% of what I paid for the gun to add a threaded barrel.
