Well guy's after many hours of research and debating I have decided my next build is going to be a 6mm REM, I debated between the 6mm REM the wildcat 6mm Ackley Improved and the 243 Ackley Improved for many hours. I just think the 6mm REM will be easier for me personally to load for. It is at the smith now and will consist of a Rem 700 action that will be trued, Jewell trigger, 1:10 twist 5.5 weight Shilen match barrel and a stock that is still to be determined. So what kind of loads do you guy's think I should start looking at.

I haven't had a 6MM in 20 years, but that ain't cause I don't like em! What length and weight/contour barrel did you go with?

I may have some old notes from the 80's or 90's, but none using modern powders we have today. I used a lot of the heavier Speer and Sierra bullets along with the 4831 powders. Seems like I remember Accurate 2700 working well with heavier bullets too.

Again, great caliber choice. It should be a genuine pleasure to shoot!

I use Sierra Game King bullets and Varget Powder. Hodgdon 4895 works well also. I wont give my powder charge on an open forum, but google Hodgdon reloading data and their online guide is loaded(sorry, bad pun) with great data.

Chuck it will be finished 26'' and it is a 5.5 weight Shilen which is kind of like a light varmit. I think it's .750 at the muzzle to where your sendero type weight barrels are most of the time about .850. I will post pics when I get it back. It's gonna be a few weeks because my builder doesn't work a whole lot during hunting season. Picked up glass (6.5-20 VX-3) and ordered stock today so all I need now is rings and bases. I'm getting excited.

Feed a healthy diet of H4831 and speer 100 gr hot cores. Its a deer killin machine and will print nice groups. I have a 30 plus year old 6mm that has countless rounds through it and still prints just under an inch at 100 yards. I love that little rifle, killed my first deer with it. A ton of yotes and it'll turn an armadillo inside out, all with 100 gr. hot cores.

I finally got the gun back and have been trying to get it to shoot 87gr v-max's with not a whole lot of luck. I have had some MOA/ slight sub MOA groups but I'm looking for better than that out of this one. I have tried the 87's with RL-22, RL-19 and IMR 4350. Swaping to a 80gr nosler BT next with 4350. Anu more suggestions ? Not really wanting to shoot anything heavier than a 90gr bullet.

I have a nearly identical built rifle in 6mm. My bbl is a shilen select number 5 contour cut to 22 inches on a rem 700 action in a bell and Carlson stock. 1 in 10 twist. Mine didn't like the lighter bullets either. However it loves 100 gr hornady spire points with a healthy dose of IMR 4350. Ragged holes all day long at 100 yards and you can cover three shots with a nickel at 300. Feed it what it wants accuracy pays over speed any day.

Thanks for the info, I got some 80gr NBT loaded now, we will see what they do and if they don't satisfy me I will try some 100gr's.
