I put a fixed power scope (2.5x I think) on my little 7.62x39 bolt gun. Seemed appropriate for that rifle.

Mine is an out-of-production old Burris but this Leupold would probably be comparable.

I recently picked up two new rifles and looking for optic options for both.

First is a Ruger American Gen II in 7.62x39, and second is an AR in 7.62x39. Both will more than likely see 150 yards or less shots due to the limitations of the caliber.

Both rifles will serve as target and/or possibly dual role as a hog gun. I’m not familiar with this caliber and it’s partnership with optics. I am considering 1-4, or 1-6 LPVO or should I consider 2-7x32, 3-9x40, etc? Looking to spend $500 or less on each optic. Thanks for your experience and advice in advance!

Its effective on two leggers to 300yds. Can hit mansize targets redily out to 600. Would use 2-7 imo. Personaly i prefer fixed power
