A Tale of Two Crush Washers, or Two Crush Washers One Barrel, and other AR oddities

Pencil tip butane torch works for locktite (from what I have been told) would that have worked for rockset?
Just thinking out loud you have seen more than I ever will ......... carry on

Rocksett has a temp rating of 2050 degrees F. Heating that area of the receiver up to that temp would wreck the annealing.

A minimum of 20 minutes in boiling water is the factory-recommended method for removing Rocksett.

If the screw gets heated to 2050 degrees +, that heat will be conducted to the surrounding aluminum that it's embedded in.

Yeah, Rocksett is Sodium Silicate. Sets up pretty much like crystalline quartz.

Applying heat to that is about the same as wanting to melt sand. Naturally, it could fail mechanically at below that temp, but I'm not surprised.
