My 12 year old step daughter came down from her room with makeup that looked like she had a black eye. Her mom saw it and didnt object.

I asked her nicely 3 times to please wash it off. Finally she stomped upstairs and I asked my wife if I was wrong and she told me it was just makeup.

I didnt like looking at her like that, I have no idea why she did it but a black eye on a little girl has a certain stigma, and I couldnt bear to look at her that way. If someone gave her a black eye, they would get their ass stomped. I dont think she gets it.

Was I wrong to make her wash it off? It really made me uncomfortable to look at her like that and the "its just makeup didnt make me feel better.

Maybe it's her way of telling you she's interested in doing costume makeup? I dunno. No need to be rough on the kid for something like that, IMO.

This is one of the few instances that I can see where the decision may need to be explained to the offender. She only heard you say that it wasn't good. Not a reason why. Yes I agree that you're the step parent and should be respected, but as a young lady she wants to know why it was bad. But I think you are right.

I would go have a father daughter talk with her. Tell her how you feel about her and tell her how seeing a black eye on her made you feel. Then go buy her some makeup dad.

Was it just that much makeup she used ? Or when you say black eye do you mean had it all the way down to say her cheek or as far high as her brow? If you push it too much she probably just take her makeup with her and put it on when you not around. I might would explain why i told her that
