Good post. This could help treat the symptoms, but the deeper (and tougher to change) problem is spiritual and moral (our pop culture wants no absolutes of right and wrong) a result of broken families, decline in godliness, lack of responsibility, etcI was thinking the same thing about the availability of guns before we ever had mass shootings and agree 100% with that article.
I also think that the physical inactivity associated with watching tv, internet, or video games as mentioned may have something to do with it. A grown man will start to feel sluggish and lazy if he doesn't work out or get in some type of physical activity, plus a bad diet will make him feel like crap. I know it goes deeper than diet and exercise but I think it's a great start, along with more positive reinforcing social activity especially for boys. I'd imagine reclusiveness is a fairly common trait amongst these kids.
I'd also like to see metal detectors being used and a 300% increase in the number of security guards on campus. Students should also be required to sit down with a therapist/guidance counselor once every 6 months to get answers to common questions and to be evaluated on their mental stability. If they can't pass the examination, get the parents involved and the kids gotta go through a rehabilitation program kinda like a boot camp to get them back on track.
Add in all the over medicated kids because of no discipline at home and easier to just give them pills. Yes I know there are some that need, but I believe far more get meds than should.D diacnik Agreed 100%. You know the ratings are probably going up everytime something like this happens as well. Too many agenda's involved at this point to solve the problem? I'd say it's not a stretch. I don't see the nation taking steps as a whole yet, and that's what needs to happen. Gone are the days that you can trust kids not to bring guns to school and commit a mass murder. We need to change the protocol for kids to meet up as a student body and go to school. They need to have i.d.'s that must be scanned to make it on campus (gated), make it through a less invasive, yet effective TSA style checkpoint, and we need to have more officers in each building, etc. It's just not safe anymore to trust the old way of doing things. It keeps happening, and the towns keep saying "we never thought it would happen here, or to us". Well, guess what, it's time for a change.
I guess this is what happens when you let uncle sam take care of so many problems up to this point, so now it's become his responsibility to raise the children as well.
This also creates a great demand for private schools that aren't so expensive people can't afford to send their kids to them, that offer the higher security clearances desired, if the public systems won't adhere. But the tax money already goes to public schools, so they should be required to adhere on a national level.
But if we actually prevent these what will the anti gun people use to claim guns are evil? They have no care for safety of the students

Those 10 people were not super duper dead. Only a little dead.
