Another reason I am glad to live in Georgia

Or a dairy. When I lived in the sticks many years ago, there was a family that ran a dairy farm.
Everything they owned reeked of cow manure. Clothes, car interiors, every...dam...thing.
Yeah out in Oklahoma there used to be a livestock Yard outside of town and that was not a pleasant odor either. Pig farm is no cologne either!

The aroma of a farm evokes pleasant childhood memories for me of summer days on my grandmothers farm….. I guess it’s different for everyone….

I loved going out to my Grandparents farm up here in Thaxton VA. It's about 40 minutes where I live now. He had cows in the pasture but it didn't stink to high heavens up on the hill above the pasture. Well maybe on and off with the wind.

We used to have to cross the pasture to get to the swimming hole on Stoney Creek. There was a huge mean bull that would take off after us everytime we crossed if he saw us. There was a single blackberry bush right in the middle but it was massive. One time that bull chased me and my cousin around that bush for two hours before anybody noticed. My grandfather came out there to pick us up in his truck he was so tickled he almost cried. We did too but it wasn't because it was funny. LOL It was terrifying back then because I was only 7 or 8 years old.

During the hottest part of the summer you can stop at that bush and had the biggest ripest blackberries you've ever seen. It was hard to cross that pasture and not stop and eat until we couldn't eat another one. Had to be on constant lookout for that SOB all the time.

My uncle still owns that property and he won't let no one on there not even his family. He's as protective over that property as a pride of lions.

It's Ok to visit, but you don't want to smell manure all day every day. Especially during the Summer

Yep, been around some mean bulls. I never had a problem with them, but I didn't try to provoke them either. Kept a distance. I did cross pastures

WTF is a pickleball ??!! :becky:

Tiny Tennis or Plus-Sized Ping Pong.

People who are too soft to play tennis found a way to turn ping pong into a ‘sport.’ Except the sound is terribly annoying. Actually, the players are pretty annoying too.

Noise is something you have to be cognizant of if you live around people. My house backs up to USNF and I can shoot there anytime I want. But to be in good stead with the folks who live close by I don’t shoot everyday, I limit the shooting close to the house only to pistols and shoot between the hours of 10A and 4P. My neighbors all know me. In fact I taught one how to shoot a pistol he bought from me. If you have good folks around you and you don’t abuse things it can work out fine. I am lucky though because I’ve heard of horror stories of suburban transplants up here in N GA trying to stop people from shooting because they don’t like the noise, but at the same time they’ll strap on a leaf blower and make noise for several hours during the fall. When people are reasonable, I’m reasonable. When they’re unreasonable I can be the biggest asshole in the world.
