Another reason I am glad to live in Georgia

I loved going out to my Grandparents farm up here in Thaxton VA. It's about 40 minutes where I live now. He had cows in the pasture but it didn't stink to high heavens up on the hill above the pasture. Well maybe on and off with the wind.

We used to have to cross the pasture to get to the swimming hole on Stoney Creek. There was a huge mean bull that would take off after us everytime we crossed if he saw us. There was a single blackberry bush right in the middle but it was massive. One time that bull chased me and my cousin around that bush for two hours before anybody noticed. My grandfather came out there to pick us up in his truck he was so tickled he almost cried. We did too but it wasn't because it was funny. LOL It was terrifying back then because I was only 7 or 8 years old.

During the hottest part of the summer you can stop at that bush and had the biggest ripest blackberries you've ever seen. It was hard to cross that pasture and not stop and eat until we couldn't eat another one. Had to be on constant lookout for that SOB all the time.

My uncle still owns that property and he won't let no one on there not even his family. He's as protective over that property as a pride of lions.

Thanks for sharing your reminiscence…. your story of the bull afforded me a good chuckle to start my day….

Drag strips and circle tracks go away after developers buy the land around them…

Seven Flags Speedway. Watched many races and fought a few fights in the pits. RIP

I live in a rural area. When we moved in there was a chicken house nearby. Every time the weather is nice and I want to open the windows he decides to ventilate the chicken house and it stinks something fierce. It makes me frustrated every time....

But the chicken house was here first, so I close my windows.
Paper mills in the PanHandle are as bad as anything I’ve smelled. Right up there with the beer manufacturer. But I’ve never been to New Orleans . My friend went to the National Championship there years ago and said it smells like puke, piss,&poo ?
