Antique car

As much as I love those cars remind me not to ride with you in that Monte Carlo, okay? It would only make me want another hot rod. šŸ˜‚ I don’t have the willpower to not get on it any chance I get, it’s just too much fun! Same with motorcycles, it took a long long time to get fast cars and bikes mostly outta my system. My Dad always had fast cars and I saw the Hells Angels ride by about 300 deep in 1967. The feeling of just stompin’ the gas, dumpin’ the clutch and hittin’ the gears as hard and fast as you can is like nothing else and the sound & feeling of 300+ H-D’s running straight pipes and shaking the earth flying by gets in your blood. It got me at a young age, Dad used to take me to the 1/4 mile dirt track stock car races every weekend during racing season so there’s that too. šŸ˜‚
I was always practical when it came to bikes. Fastest one I ever had was a 82 Honda 900F Super Sport. But I really wanted a V65 Magna bad. Not practical on any level. But shaft drive 116HP. Remember that commercial where they were doing a sideways burnout and the bike just zips right by the camera? Honda was really on top of the game back then. Shaft drive, hydraulic clutch and valves. Those bikes were smooth as silk. And would run forever. I was at least back in the day I could walk into a few dealerships and they'd just throw me the keys to anything. Here go try that out. I've ridden most of the power bikes back in that day. And got to really push them too. That 82 CB, I bought it brand new in the crate for $1600. Just too good to pass up.
As far as the Monte Carlo. When I bought it, it had a 475HP 383 stroker in it. The guy selling it didn't want me to drive it. I said look, you drive it. Show me what it'll do and I'll just drive it normal. When I got the car home it took me a half day to learn how to drive it. Well later years down the road it blew a head gasket. One thing lead to another and I ordered a 700HP 434 stoker and swapped it out. That took me 1500mi. to learn how to drive it. Yea, it'll plumb scare you to death if you ain't used to it. But it ain't practical around town. Neither was the 383

Hey, hop on FB and check out a group Bikers Over 60 That Still Ride…….you and I are young uns compared to some. If safety is an issue get you a v-twin and pull one plug wire off šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Good times. I had a Honda Civic I did a lot of the same. It was a good while before I could afford a real car. Remember the 1968 movie The Italian Job? That was me.......Or rally racing......First muscle car I had was a 73 Mustang Mach I 351 Cleveland

I haven’t seen that movie in decades man. lol! That’s funny about the ā€˜73 Mustang, my Dad had the same damn car except his was a 351W with a stupid little two barrel carb. What a freakin’ TURD! I got a wild story about that car I’ll tell one day, it’s kinda long but it’s scary, it’s crazy and funny now that I’m older. I’ll put it this way, I probably shouldn’t have made it out of my teens the way I was back then. Ten feet tall and bulletproof ya know? :pound:

Oh Hell YES! I wanted that bike Sooooo bad! First time I saw that commercial I jumped outta my chair and hollered out ā€œHoly sh*t! Did you see that?!?!ā€ My wife just gave me the ā€œstone lookā€, you know, the one that can turn you into a stone? She said ā€œNo, please don’t tell me you’re gonna try to get one of those.ā€ Then I remembered that I had two little boys depending on me to raise them up and make men out of em’. I never got one but I did get to ride one a couple of years later. OMG that thing would haul ass! I did end up getting a ā€˜82 Suzuki 650 GL or GS I can’t remember but it had shaft drive, I loved that bike too. It was like driving a two wheeled hot rod the way rear end would squat down then get back up when I romped down on it. Those engines could take an enormous about of abuse! lol
It took me about a half a day to get the hang of that ā€˜65 Mustang I had too, it was pushing over 450 hp. First few times I tried to ease that damn clutch out (Zoom racing clutch by the way, I forgot that earlier) I had that thing lurching so bad I bout got whiplash! Once I got the hang of it I took the wife for a ride in it, no seatbelts YET. Just by chance we pulled up behind a neighbor at a stop sign and we both turned left out onto a good stretch of straight road. This neighbor just happened to have a ā€˜90 something Saleen w/351 and two BIG turbos (80 something mm maybe) and 42mm injectors. Anyway, we pulled out and we both hit it about the same time and it was OFF TO THE RACES! I stayed right with him through all four gears then I realized my wife was freakin’ out because she ain’t got no seatbelt and she’s getting slung all over the place while I’m having a blast just banging gears. šŸ˜‚ Even after I had seatbelts installed in it she never rode in that car again, which didn’t really hurt my feelings none. lol! If ol’ Steve could’ve got traction in his Saleen he probably would’ve run off and left me but he had way too much motor in that car, it was dyno’d at over 1200 hp to the wheels! After getting spanked a few times by some strong 4.6 Mustang GT’s he tore the motor down and rebuilt it back to I wanna say around 800 hp to the crank and changed up the rear end gears. He didn’t get spanked no more after that. After 9/11 he re-enlisted in the Army at 30 something years old after being out for several years, never saw him again after that.

I'm lookin at a 41 Ford coupe now. Ain't got no place to park it. If I had that garage I want to build, I would. Bought a larger place to accommodate everything. She never said a word. Then after we bought it, she got what she wanted. And we're still disagreeing on the rest. Go figure.......The 41 is a quality build. It's missing about 100HP I want, but the block and trany can be transformed to what I would want. It already has all the creature comforts in it

Your 66 was 14yrs old. Your 05 is 20yrs old. The 66 was a real car. If you still had it and was in good shape, it would be worth a fortune. What will your 05 be like when it's 60yrs old??.........

Nah

The only thunderbirds that are valuable or desirable are the ones that didn’t sell when they were new , the 55-6-7 two seaters

The rest are easy to find a nice one for under $10k if you shop around

Im
Gonna keep the 05 on the road as long as I can , but it’s replacement is gonna be even older .

I know exactly how you feel man, the kitchen remodel my wife got 17 years ago was supposed to be a brand new ā€˜09 Harley Heritage SoftTail for me. I got the ā€˜04 Roadstar 1700 but only after a whole lotta bitchin’ from me for not getting the Harley. šŸ˜‚ I made out pretty good with it though, a lot less than a H-D even after getting the dual running lights, passenger footboards, small luggage rack & travel bag, leather windshield bag (perfect fit for a 1911 Govt model) new tires, new bigger carb jets and V&H Longshots with the baffles removed. It had just shy of 5k miles when I got it, wasn’t even broke in good yet. Damn good bike that gave me a lot of good times and even a lotta Harley guys thought it was a Harley by the sound until they got a look at it. Lol!

That’s nice right there. Dad’s was canary yellow with flat black racing stripes and a plain ol’ hood with no scoops. Ford should’ve been ashamed to put ā€œracingā€ stripes on that slug of a car. I hated that thing. Lol!
