And to the matter of finding a "reasonable" land surveyor... if you've been searching for a while without any luck is it possible your expectation of reasonable could be off? Everyone I know is 3-4 weeks backed up with work and fees start at about $150 per hour. A average one acre lot in a subdivision is going to take about half a day to complete. 10 acre boundary is going to be around $2,500. Lots of variables of course. State and County regulations have driven the fees up from 1990s levels.

Are you wanting a survey or do you want someone to mark boundaries and confirm the platt that is filed? I bought a piece of property in Lumpkin county and just had the latter service done. That was really all I felt like I needed.
