Different axles are different. Some are full float, some semi and some c-clip, etc.
Just leave the dope in the chunk and it won’t hurt it to be spinning all the time. That’s what pinions do.
If your tow rig is hurtin because of turnin’ a pinion, you need more truck. When you’re trying to make a trailer out of a pickup you work with what you got.That just makes it way harder to pull and makes the tow vehicle burn more fuel.
