A short piece of an old gas tube makes a great sleeve to slide over a punch and center a pin. It keeps a punch from sliding off and marring your gun. Cut it short enough to allow driving thru flush, or remove it to seat the last little bit.

I never have trouble with gas tube pins...It's that damn pivot pin spring and detent that gives me fits every time. I need 3 hands for that one.
