Anyone bracket race or index race?

A few years ago me and my dad built this mustang into the bracket car that it is now, started out as a street car and all work was done in house. Alittle over a year ago I bought my 14yr old son a mustang and we brought it back to life, now he races it in a class called jr.street.

His class is a bracket class as well, kids 13(I think) up to 16 can race with an adult in the car. Must be street legal and can’t go faster than a 9.0 in the 1/8th mile. We have toned his car down and he runs 9.40’s at roughly 70mph

It’s been a lot of fun, and he has a greater appreciation for the car because he has some sweat equity in it too. Riding passenger with him going down the track is such a blast

So glad you‘re teaching him to race on the track and not the street. That’s respectable times and speeds and it’sagreat sport to share. The time and effort you both put in will pay huge dividends in the future. Good luck and quick green lights!

I raced a 1989 Ford Mustang at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA. It was a 1/4 mile track. It's long gone today.

I'd race Commerce on Saturday night and Covington on Sunday afternoon (also gone). The car wasn't fast but would run it's number very consistently. They paid cash to the winner and runner-up.

I won the 96 Rock sponsored race one Saturday night at Commerce in the above red car. I was interviewed live on the air before they played "Free Bird" .
