Anyone Else Sick of Hearing About Cecil?

Bumped the Hildabeast right off the news as things were heating up. How convenient.
Exactly what I was thinking. They are using this nothing story to distract us from something really important that they don't want to talk about. And we are such a bunch of mental midgets that it is working.

One more thing. .. when they noticed the GPS on the lion, if they had been smart, they could have tranqed another lion, stuck the damn collar on the new lion and nobody would have ever known the difference.

I don't know if the hunter knew what was going on, but the PHs sure as hell did. There wasn't even a lion available on quota in the area they killed it. That's poaching, not hunting and I hope they throw the PHs under the jail.

You and I agree basically all the time about issues on African hunting, but this one really stinks and they have hurt legitimate hunters badly by pulling this crap.

Desperate times, Bear. I was friends with a Zim tobacco farmer who lost thousands of hectares of land and fled for SA with his family in the 90's. Horrible stories and I can't imagine what it's like now.

Not opposed to a real hunt at all.
But Hunting a lion with a bow imo is completely irresponsible and possibly cruel and more about chest pumping than hunting. I hunt deer with a bow so Im not opposed to bow hunting but a lion is just too big and powerful and should be larger caliber rifle (at least .30?) only.

Yeah but hunting a bear with a bow is just fine. Or a moose or an elk..I've seen people right her on the ODT talk about their guided hunt(and yeah, I'm sure most of them meant with rifles. Atill pointless IMO-but my opinion of THEIR sport is totally irrelevant, which is the whole point)...it's all the same to me. SO who gives a **** if it's your cup of tea or not. Opinions are like assholes. The guy was into it, paid 50 grand for a legal hunt(whatever you personally think of it as a sport notwithstanding) and broke no law intentionally. Get the **** off his back and mid your own business...not JUST you personally, the whole nosey as world.

bad enough the liberals and animal lovers are crawlin the guys asshole, you'd think WE could just shut the **** up about him.

I read "The Last Resort" by Douglas Rogers a couple years ago. It was a fascinating read that kept me on the edge of my seat. Shooting one lion, whether poaching or not, should be the least of concern for that country. A functioning government and economy not ruled by mob and corruption should probably be a little higher on the list.
