I just use plyers. Most of the time can comes off and leaves the mount. See to happen most often hunting due to temp changes.

Usually heat will help your cause, I always try to remove my cans after each range session just so I lessen the chance of carbon lock but I know it's not always practical. You could just weld it on and not worry about getting it off ever again.
