I love hiking and getting way out but the convenience of truck camping is great. Day hikes to hunt and fish and the truck makes a damn nice “base camp” for cooking and sleeping.

Anyone have any experience with "The Georgia Traverse?"

For a long time, the majority of his content was his F150 with a full size bed and a camper shell. He built a custom interior where he could sleep, cook, and eat. I think as his channel grew, ad revenue grew, and now he has merch and all kinds of vehicles. Put a pop up camper on a VW bug, kind of thing.
He never says where he uses the bathroom, though.

Walked past this in the garage today, and actually noticed it for the first time in ages because of this thread. Threw it in the shipping container I moved with here from Australia. Old Engel freezer we used overlanding, you had to have the base on springs with the amount of vibration from driving on desert tracks or it'd shake itself to pieces. I'll have to see if it still works.

I’ve ridden most of it either in my Wrangler or my pickup (4wd). I camped a couple of times. There’s some beautiful country along that route. I wouldn’t dream of doing it without being properly armed and I always took a pair of shoes that would do to walk in if I broke down. Oh, I take a 20v Dewalt chainsaw for trees across the road and of course food and water.
Nearly 400 miles across North Georgia, 2/3 of it over unpaved roads. Currently thinking about making a week of it and camping along the way. I'd love intel if any of you guys have any experience doing it.

was nice enough to play sherpa for the rOmiFaM today and take us on one leg of the Traverse. We started in East Ellijay at Cherry Log, worked our way over a fairly simple gravel road moving east onto USFS 35. That was a little more technical but never required leaving 2WD. From there we went through Suches and on to Dahlonega for lunch. My one main takeaway is that the drive is going to be tougher and probably take longer than I thought. We didn't go very far, maybe just 1/6 of the total trail and it took us over 3 hours. My girls had a little less interest in in it than the wife and I did, but they hung in. It was definitely a good way to dip the toe into the water.
Of note, I had little to no cell signal for most of the trip. GMRS comms came in handy for ship to ship talk.

The obnoxious black thing in most of the photos is the window mount for my cell phone holder. It sorta kinda doubles as a dash cam...sort of.
