Anyone quit shooting DI and switch fully to piston AR's?

The DI ****s where it eats but it works. Just comes down to the user. Cleaning a piston ar-15 is easier. Piston rifles have their own possibility of problems. Plus not all pistons share the same parts. Which is why many stick with DI.

My one and only AR is blowback so I chose neither.
 
In my experience, a piston system done right can be nice for going long amounts of time between cleaning. I'm mainly thinking about ARs from Adams arms (although there seemed to be a batch the had problems - hearsay over on another forum), the sig 516 series, lwrc, and some others from reputable mfgs. Several piston systems such as scar, sig 556, tavor, steyr aug, etc. also work well but I assume this conversation is about ARs mostly since those don't have the DI option.

I clean my rifles after every firing so that's not a problem. Also, in my experience, DI systems tend to be lighter which is a real plus if you're lugging a rifle through the woods all day.
 
I will stick with DI and leave the piston for others. I keep my rifle clean and enjoy the lighter weight and parts are always available for the DI rifles. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with piston rifles but those are my reasons for staying with DI.
 
My lwrc spr hardly weighs more than my bcm recce 14's....but I couldn't imagine giving up my di rifles, they work...my lwrc's work. I like both equally, I just don't get why a few ppl I know are ONLY going piston

It's true that most manufacturers have a piston variant for about $200-300 more than their standard offerings. Heck, the govt has even tried to make the switch several times but they never do after the tests.

There is a well documented case where a group ran a BCM with very minimal lubrication for north of 2000 rounds before it started to run into serious problems. If you think about, that's a lot of rounds - almost to the point where you're having to replace minor parts due to wear and tear.
