Anyone using CFE Pistol Powder?

Picked some up today. Burn rate is somewhere between AA#5 and AA #7.

I like AA#7 for my 40 loads, but hate the way it makes a mess.


Just wanted to see if anyone has tried it and what your opinion was.

It is new, made by Hodgdons. Came out a little while after the cfe223. I still haven't tried that either.

I do, it's a decent go to pistol powder. No complaints so far. What bullet are you pushing with it? Hodgdons Loading Magazine had a full write up on it. PM me an email and I will scan and send. Good read.

Hopefully this isn't another marketing invention put forth to pander to everyone's "Wish fulfillment syndrome"
You know: "I wish I they made a cleaner burning powder" ... which causes the marketing mavens to "invent" a name "CFE"
and apply it to a product that "burns cleaner" (which is ubiquitous enough to mean anything you can
imagine). Kind of like the term: "DeCaf Coffee" which actually still contains a varying amount of caffeine (depending upon which brand it is!).
Be reminded that blind drug tests include a large number of cures attributed to placebos!

I was just glad to find some pistol powder in my area. Figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I like to use Unique, so dirty isn't a problem.

I haven't seen it in stores but been wanting to try it for some more powerful loads. Sounds good from what I've read about it.
