Apple Cider Vinegar

While on the subject of vinegar, white vinegar does a great job on removing caked on rust. Soak tools, etc. in half and half white vinegar and water for several days and the rust will be bottom of the container. I have used big galvanized tubs to soak things in. Don't think I would use it on guns. Also works as organic weed killer and cheaper than Roundup or generic Roundup like products.

I think it will probably remove Bluing in short order as well...I have also heard that a White Vinegar & Hydrogen Peroxide mixture is good for removing Lead from Pistol & Revolver Barrels, but have no personal experience....mikey357

If you have a Glock barrel that looks like an avatar smiley group hug - soak it in ACV and the finish will all go away. You need to put ear plugs in each end to keep the vinegar out on the barrel and then buff the outside to make it shiny...
