I was at local gun show yesterday on Jonesboro, Rd. Saw a lot of AR-15 complete upper units. Can these be changed between guns without modification. Say take a 5.56 unit off and put a 7.62X39 unit on buy just taking 2 pin out.

In short, yes

50 Beowulf,6.8,.224.300bp,5.56,223,.22, 7.62 t
All use the multi cal or regular mil spec 556 lower
Some will use same 556 magazines.

6.8 and .224 Valkyrie use same magazine

223/556/300bo same magazine

7.62 has its own magazine

Pop the take down pins, swap the complete uppers as you please

Barrels, bcgs are different story

Thanks. I didn't think about magazines

At least on my 6.8SPC I don't have to change buffers or springs. I just swap out the BCG and barrel (LMT MRP), throw in the 6.8 mags and it's ready to go. Pretty sure the Valkyrie is the same as it's just a necked down 6.8.

7.62x39 and 50 Beowulf use the same bolt. 6.5 Grendel uses a version of the x39 bolt. In short, you have multiple uppers and one lower. You can even do 9mm with the Endo mag inserts. AR15's lowers are standardized. AR10 on the other hand is different animal as far as getting uppers/lowers from different mfg to match up.

You may have to swap buffers and/or buffer springs for best functioning with some calibers. Those are inexpensive parts, though. I keep a drawer full of them.
