AR Pistol Foregrip Question (Class III It?)

Hey guys,

Hoping for some advice. I’m planning to pick up an MP5 clone (hopefully this weekend) and would like to get a a foregrip for it since I’ll be installing an FRT. I know that it cannot be 90 degrees unless I choose to AOW it with a Form 1 and that only AFTER ATF approves can I install the 90 degree foregrip.

My question is, what is everyone’s experience with using a more “slanted” ATF-compliant, slanted foregrip on an AR pistol vs. those who did AOW their AR pistols with a 90 degree foregrip?

If it helps, I do have an FRT on my AR-15 without a foregrip and, for me, it’s more difficult to control than a full-auto (this past summer, I shot full auto MP5, P90, and a SAW with little-to-no control issues despite no foregrip on the MP5 and P90 and fell in love with the MP5).

Just SBR it and not worry about it... or

Just do what you want with it, don't post pictures or brag about it and live your life.

Basically and the use of foregrips. There's laws of possession and SBR are subject to the mann act, lol. ( Means don't cross state lines w/o permission.)

So, basically I would swap a brace for a stock and then throw the foregrip on (once approved, of course)? It would then “technically” be a rifle?

Once approved, it would technically be a SBR, subject to N.F.A. rules.

You don't have to add the stock, just register it as one. And the forgrip is owners choice. The SBR just free up what you can use.

Just run it with a hand stop. Mp5s are pretty mild running FA.
