Do you have to have a tax stamp for an ar pistol ? And can you use any lower when building one? Thanks for any info.

No stamp required, but it must be a lower built specifically for a pistol. Any stripped lower will do, it just needs to be built into a pistol lower first.

I'm just not familiar with the law and am planning on building one while parts are cheap but I want to stay leagal.

You are good, just be sure the lower was entered in the FFL book as a pistol, or other.
