Did it come with a bunch of other stuff? If not, they are crazy. You can buy a brand new one for less than $700.
If you have an FDE 21 youre looking at like $800. That makes my Gen 3 21 (with night sights) a steal at $550. 
I dont give a darn if its gold plated. I like my LEO discount just fine
When someone buys Apple stock for $XXX, all Apple stock is worth that.
Everything is worth what someone will pay you for it. $400 Glocks are much more rare these days, but still come up occasionally.
