went ranger joes last weekend and bought him new acu's .it was cool in there,i bought bunch of army stuff!
hes frugal w his money,so no worries about him buying items he cant use. I will remind him to check into GI bill and tsp

AIT is still pretty regimented and he won't need a ton of stuff. If he's in a mechanical MOS, he'll have dozens of Leatherman's at his disposal.

The first duty station is where he'll regain his freedom and need stuff. My son came here to Ft Stewart after AIT and it was pretty cool that we worked on the same post for a short time before he deployed to Iraq...
