Atlanta Pro Gun Rally 4/14 EDIT: Permit pulled, legal rally is off...

Carrying an ar is a little less convenient than carrying a pistol. I'm willing to do the extra mile to show case a real life ar and how it just doesn't jump up and attack people on it's own.

Anyway, I'm done defending this. Shouldn't have to, especially here. You're either attending, got an excuse not to attend, or you are part of the problem. Not calling anybody out, I want everyone on here to attend.
I also think everyone here should attend. That's not the issue being discussed.

One question. If you OC an AR, how many people do you think will have a revelation in which they realize "it just doesn't jump up and attack people on it's own.", as compared with the number of people that will have the reaction, "Holy crap, that guy's got an assault rifle!!!! Crazy gun nuts are dangerous!"?

Can't go past the mail box....

I will make every effort to attend this. In years past I may have agreed with the conceal carry only crowd, but eff that. The AR15 is as symbolic as ever today, and I will be toting one in lieu of a sign with a cute phrase scribbled on it.
Great. Thanks for your contribution to the cause. :tsk:

Actually, staying on track politically is the point most of us are making. The sad part is.. when a few guys with ARs cause a media debacle that could have been avoided, those same guys, who felt they needed to flex their biceps, will find someone other than themselves to blame for the trouble they caused and the Win they gave the gun protesters and ban advocates.

Most accurate and truthful post in this thread.

I'm afraid it will only take a few people, who don't have a clue, to screw this up real bad. I almost wish it wouldn't even happen when I think about how 10 guys wearing a kit or AR slung over their back will be used to further the cause of banning that very weapon.

Rollingtrip is right too. Dress up a little. We are being judged. If you had a little girl going on a first date, would you feel secure about the guy coming to pick her up, meet daddy the first time, with a AR on his back.

Both could enjoy shooting later if done the right way from the start, but if he showed up to take my lil girl that way, she'd never be allowed to go.

I would instantly judge him a nut. But if he came up looking nice, we could probably visit the range together some time down the way.

I think the left is full of overly emotional non-thinkers, but sadly, we have some of the same in our camp as well.

You're being awfully nice about it. Truth is, I think a lot of them are just compensating because they have little... "hands". Too bad their behavior will negatively effect all of us.

I thought the kid in your avatar was just something off the web? :boink:

Look, the media is going to make of it what they will whether or not gun owners are on their best behavior. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised so many people on here honestly think that the antis will somehow get the message if we "act normal". Or maybe if we don't appear so scary, they'll change their minds. As if they don't know who/what we're up against.

I'm not threatening belligerence or inciting a rebellion, but I am hoping to get approached by the media. I have something to say on the matter, and I think I know how to carry myself and communicate effectively. The way I see it, I'll be helping combat the media's unfavorable narrative of stereotypical gun-owners, but I understand people's hesitation as I have shared the same concerns in the past.

And if all else fails, yes, please talk to the avatar.
