You basically want the Opposite side of the triangle. Using the angle and the hypotenuse (length of the line) you already know 2 out of the 3.

As a pipe fitter, this is the equation you want. Give me that angle and you line length and I’ll get you the depth.

If you have an Iphone, pull up the calculator, turn your phone sideways, type the angle (ex 60) then hit the SIN button. Then multiply that value by the length of the line (hypotenuse) and thats your depth.

Oh my goodness. I had no idea my iPhone calculator had that capability by turning the iPhone sideways. Learned something today. All this time I have just been using my iPhone to talk and listen. Appreciate it.

N, It's good you used the "standard model" on the mathematical formula. Otherwise, some of who were lackluster in math might have had difficulties understanding. Thanks.
