Automatic knives

Not sure about the particular model but, 7.00oz is way to heavy for my taste. I have a few Microtechs around 3oz. But, that name alone means "expensive", lol. 440c isn't a bad steel for ED tasks but, if I'm paying that much for a blade something like 154cm, VG10, or S30V is what I'm looking for in terms of edge retention. Microtech makes a great auto as does benchmade, Protech, Dalton. The list goes on and on. What's your primary role for the blade? Do you want a Auto or OTF(out the front auto)? Budget?

Hate you and your auto porn!! lol, but my knives are tools and i mean it doubles as a literal hand tool lol. The one i linked to is S30V steel. And im trying to stay under 200. I want to get an OTF one day but i need a knife with some meat on its bones. Primary reason im carrying the 06 fast. Weight doesn't bother me cause of all the other **** i have to carry around at work.

Lol it's an addiction! A pricey, yet fun addition lol. Well for "tool" use, I'd stay away from OTF's simply because they are too expensive for hard use. In that price range you have tons of options! I like the Benchmade auto Stryker. It's a meat and potatoes auto. Best thing to do is to hit up a LGS that is a distributor of some of these brands and find the one that feels the best on the hands. Going Gear in Smyrna, Tactical Supply in forrest park, and Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna all have good selections of autos! Lemme know if I can help out anymore!

Backwoods -you ever mess around with any of the cheap OTF autos like the Schrades or Lightnings?

I have and and carry a Schrade Viper OTF. I figured it would break in a few weeks or get lost. I've been carrying it for almost a year now and use it constantly. I have been more than happy with my 30 dollar investment.

I remember seeing a thread earlier today about Going Gear... Next time im over that way i got to stop in. Gonna keep on the look out for some more styles that peek my interest so i can research them further. If i got an OTF it would be a BBQ knife and would never get close to work lol.

I recently had a Boker side opener given to me. It was a good knife but kind of dated looking and slow opening. They go for over $100.00 new. But the generic " Spring Assisted Opening" Monarch brand that I got at Academy was quicker opening and handier. And it was $12.99.boker.jpgknife2.jpg
