Is there any way to make the default as no avatars? That way NO ONE sees them unless they want to.

You can, but I don't like that as an option. I enjoy avatars and the truth is most people would not know to go turn them on.

I agree with you Steve, but hate that it takes effort to enforce something like this. In the end, though, having someone change their avatar to make the site more friendly is a better choice IMO.

I'm sorry I even started this thread. I really enjoy the avatars. It simply rubbed me the wrong way when I started to see alot of avatars that were the same or even more blatant that Jeeps (when he was asked to remove it). I call it like I see it. I do think we should regulate ourselves though. None of the avatars are gross or have nudity so I don't see the harm. I vote we let Jeep revert back to his old avatar........

I wish you guys could cut me some slack occasionally, I really think "asking the rest of us (the vast majority) submit to their ideas of what is appropriate?" is being a little dramatic. All I'm asking is for avatars to not have profanity, gross stuff, or semi clothed women (or men).

Like it or not, a lot of folks who are into guns are also very conservative. A lot of conservative folks are very religious and would prefer to be able to browse without having that stuff pop up.

Another thing is a LOT of folks browse the site at work or with their families around. If a thread is marked NSFW then they know to not go in there if they are at work or around family or are easily offended. But if a thread is titled "Glock for sale" and they click it and a naked chick pops up in someone's avatar while they are at work or with their wife, that can cause a little bit of trouble.

I had noticed the same thing, and always felt a bit bad for Jeepinshep. Does this mean he can bring back his avatar?

I would say that the folks who have racy avatars are the ones with the fat and/or ugly women at home. So essentially it's a mental balance for them. Just a wild guess though.
