Backpack rifle/pistol builds.

I recall seeing him mention that, I'm probably just over thinking it; looking at it from my point of view and not the OPs.
Has anyone ran a piston-driven AR with a short barrel (10.5 - 11.5 inches) with a folding brace?
Unsure what the overall length would be or how reliable they are as I don't have any personal experience with one.
Thatll work it'll just be extremely harsh on the ears

Here’s what I would consider a smallish backpack containing a 5.56 AR pistol, plenty of spare mags, IFAK, and sundries. I’ve played with this particular setup and it’s outstanding. Civilian backpack on the outside, solid kydex construction with dividers and such on the inside. This ain’t mine, belongs to one of the owners of Skydas Group / Head Down Firearms.

That's hard to see on my phone, does that pistol have the folding stock with a buffer tube or is it piston gas? Any idea of the lengths, folded and unfolded?

What advantage would a 9mm PDW with a 4.5 inch barrel have over a 9mm handgun other than increased magazine capacity?
I'm not trying to be 'that guy' but I can't see a scenario where I would need to conceal something that small that is going to limit my options.

The difference in a 9mm pistol and a 9mm SMG type like MPX or MP5K PDW is worlds apart. I can't speak for the MPX, but the MP5/MP5K have basically zero recoil. In fact HK says the MP5 has NO recoil, that the only movement of the gun is mechanical action.

It's very easy to do doubles with an MP5 semi and keep them within a couple inches.

Not everyone shoots a pistol well. An MP5 is easy to shoot well.

Interesting new 10.5" upper from Brownells that was done with PWS and FM so the quality should be good. It doesn't require a buffer tube so you can add pretty much any foldable stock, and it can be fired folded. And it comes with an Adj gas block so it should be good for suppressed shooting.

The pre-order is $799, and you can always get a Brownells coupon. I'm hoping they'll soon offer it in shorter barrels and different calibers like 9mm.

Agreed, You need to shoot an MPX, what you are describing is literally the reason why it's preferred over other 9 mm subguns. I've shot MP5 including the SD and while I certainly haven't compared them side-by-side for recoil I certainly have not noticed the MP5 has less. Unbelievably I do think the MP5 is probably heavier.

What's the overall length of the MP5 that the OP had? Aren't even the MP5A3s over 25 inches long? That seems really long for a short barrel and that's an SBR.
Is the OP considering getting an SBR or was he thinking more of a pistol with a brace?

Vertx pack?
Head Down makes some great rifles, they've been quiet for a little while but I think they are well on their way now. I've been considering having them build me one for my first run and gun as I am looking for a lightweight 13.7.

Agreed which is why I'm hoping they will offer other calibers and shorter barrels. I'm not a fan of 300, but I'd own that in 300, and I'd own a couple in 9mm. Plus Brownells is a solid company so parts shouldn't be an issue.
