Agreed which is why I'm hoping they will offer other calibers and shorter barrels. I'm not a fan of 300, but I'd own that in 300, and I'd own a couple in 9mm. Plus Brownells is a solid company so parts shouldn't be an issue.

7.62 x 39 wouldn't be bad either.

That's hard to see on my phone, does that pistol have the folding stock with a buffer tube or is it piston gas? Any idea of the lengths, folded and unfolded?

Standard gas system with buffer. It has a Law Tactical AR folding stock adapter.

Head Down makes some great rifles, they've been quiet for a little while but I think they are well on their way now. I've been considering having them build me one for my first run and gun as I am looking for a lightweight 13.7.

Yep. The new owners fired everyone that worked at the old HD. Discontinued most of the AR variants and are concentrating on a few. Swapped vendors for most of their parts. For example, they switched to Noveske for their receivers, but I’m not sure if that’s who they are still using.

Yep, good stuff, .5 MOA guarantees on some rifles. They don't get the uppers/lowers directly from Noveske but from where Noveske got their lowers which is SMOS.

Not for heated prolonged battles, but backpacking this 2.93 LB, left side cocking, no buffer tube, polymer , no recoil, slightly ugly, AR Pistol is a pc of cake, with or without the added brace. 3 mags full are as heavy as the gun. 7 1/2 barrel, every bit good nuff to smoke a haint off ya.

7.5 inch barrel SBR 5.56 (sometimes I swap it to a 8" 300 BO upper). I have 5 spare mags, a G45 (2 spare mags) and other assorted EDC items in this bag. It goes with me everywhere during the week and stays home mostly on the weekends since we don't wander far from home typically.

What's the overall length of the MP5 that the OP had? Aren't even the MP5A3s over 25 inches long? That seems really long for a short barrel and that's an SBR.
Is the OP considering getting an SBR or was he thinking more of a pistol with a brace?

My MP5 is 18.75" with a B&T side folder.

What advantage would a 9mm PDW with a 4.5 inch barrel have over a 9mm handgun other than increased magazine capacity?
I'm not trying to be 'that guy' but I can't see a scenario where I would need to conceal something that small that is going to limit my options.

Third point of contact makes it more stable, but you're not wrong you dont gain much.

Has anyone ran a piston-driven AR with a short barrel (10.5 - 11.5 inches) with a folding brace?
Unsure what the overall length would be or how reliable they are as I don't have any personal experience with one.

I've got an 11.5 inch mcx that's position driven. It runs well, but its a bit big for a backpack.

It was 19 inches folded.
