Becoming an M&P fan??

I love the M&P shield (I have 9mm as well) for CCW and still keep my Glock 37 bedside with a nice low profile Veridian green laser. Love em both and enjoy shooting them both.

I switched my EDC from G26 to Shield 9mm as soon as the non thumb safety version was released.

I still love my G17, but the Shield 9mm is an awesome gun.

M&P's are great guns, and Smith is doing a good job with the options available. Ergonomics on them is light-years ahead of the Glocks. Finger grooves and no palmswell? C'mon Glock.

On the down-side, the fit and finish can be a little spotty. On my CORE gun I had to debur the safety plunger cylinder, and that was a 'performance center' gun. Also the triggers are a little different, and on older versions is pretty sloppy. The newer guns have a much better actions, and as mentioned, Apex makes a great kit to improve it even more.

Then there's Shield, which Glock just made into the best selling 9mm single-stack of 2015 by not releasing their own. Another great-shooting pistol that's even better now they've gotten rid of the stupid and dangerous thumb-safety.

M&P's have pretty decent aftermarket support (and getting better), although nowhere near the level of Glocks. You can also find decent trade-in's now too, although again, Glock rules that around GA with the local factory and free rebuilds.

I shoot better with a 1911 but I still carry Glocks
+1 on this but the 1911 just isn't a practical fighting pistol. I'm not talking about shooting at paper or accuracy or even reliability. I'm talking about fighting with one in every possible EDC scenario. Thumb safeties, grip safeties and 2lb. triggers are fine under normal conditions but not in many real life scenarios. I trained and carried one for years and in the end it just takes too much effort to be proficient with that platform and even then you can't be 100% in all situations.

Sorry for the slight derail. I carry a G19 but after shooting a few M&P's recently I'm a big fan. The deal on the shield at AO almost had me changing over.

The Apex stuff is awesome in an M&P! I have the Apex sear, polymer trigger, and striker safety plunger. My trigger in my M&P 40C breaks like a good rifle trigger.

I like my M&P better than my Glocks ...but that's because my M&P shoots 5.56 :)

I avoid all that is S&W semi auto pistols (mostly trigger issues) If a new trigger is required out of the box to make a gun tolerable, I'll just pass. I rank S&W semi auto pistols right there with Taurus in the "nice looking pistol but no thanks...ever" category. They should just stick to wheel guns and give it up.

Love my Shield. I like the full size m&p but for some readon i am mire accurate with the xdm line from Springfield? I think they are ugly as hell and not as comfortable in my hand, but i am more accurate with them?

Am I the only one that thinks M&P grips feel too slick? Or have they fixed that in the last year or two? That was the only complaint I really had with the M&P 45c I owned and the main reason I sold it.
