Bee hives?

As a kid in the early 60's I had 80 hives and used to move them from plum fields, peaches, etc in the spring and then alfalfa safflour, etc in the summer. The bees don't seem to mind location as long as a source of food is near by. If you are close to a good reliable food source, you probably will have to take honey at least 1x to keep them busy. If not, you will probably have to feed them to keep them alive (especially in winter) or to preclude swarming. Notwithstanding it might be too hot for them on the roof, it is probably not a good idea to put them on a roof also due to accessibility. Nowadays they need to be checked frequently as well, sometimes treated for pests. Imagine being on a hot roof and inadvertently knocking over a three super hive.

A more accessible location, perhaps a little shade in the summer is preferable.
