Learn to do a "flick open". Benchmades are especially good for this.

pull down on the axis lock with two fingers, and simply flick your wrist so the knife opens. you can close it the same way (unless you have a spring assisted knife)

love my spyderco tenacious brother bought a benchmade infadel and was not impressed with it super flimsy blade and did not lock up tight
