I carry the Glock 21 for work, so would put my life on it for sure. Very accurate and dependable as all get out. But I still love me a HK and the extra features the Springfield XD has over the Glock.

I feel it would be a G21, just due to the overall wear and tear that it can take over the years and the round count over the 1911. Though I think 1911's are better looking and are a little more comfortable. But to choose one, it would be the glock.
I just can't get used to the ex large grip on the G21. Also as it had has an unsupported chamber so you can't run hot loads safely.
I like most glocks for their overall dependability, and I think they are great for LEOs.
But I still prefer the Sig 220

I have owned the H&K USP 45, a real sweet shooter, I have owned the 1911, decent shooter,but too small for my hands, I have never liked any Glock, My Ruger P-90 has never jammed, it fits my hand better, does exactly what I want it to do, Its my all around favorite.
Another vote for the 1911
First let me preface this with, "For the money". Recently acquired a RIA Match and have to tell you.... It is the most accurate .45 I have shot. Not saying it would beat a match Kimber or Colt, but you won't get one of those for what I paid for this. The gun is definitely more accurate than the shooter.
