SG does enough business in GA that they have to charge GA sales tax. They pretty much offset that with free shipping.
Before the SCOTUS decision they never charged tax, but you always paid (fairly reasonable) shipping.
I liked it better the old way but it is what it is. They did try to see if they could spin up a new company to avoid the GA tax (for a while at least), but then COVID and BLM hit and they didn't have anything to sell through it.

Yes. Texas-Gunshop is a scam.
Grafs is legitimate.
Grafs used to offer $8.95 flat shipping no matter what you ordered.
I think it's gone up, but only to about $12 or so.
Their products aren't the very cheapest, and their HAZMAT is something like $20, but overall they seem to hold good stock levels.
My rule of thumb:
Can I get an intelligent native English speaker on the phone? I am hard of hearing and old and don't understand English with heavy foreign accents.
Can said individual answer my questions directly?
If they have what I need and can answer technical questions, then price is secondary. It used to be called customer service, imagine that.

Or Midway, frankly. I always thought Midway and Brownells were expensive but I've found them to work out quite reasonable for some of the stuff I've bought recently.
