Well for years I've been a 308 and 243 guy but 2 yrs ago I bought a 450 in Ruger Ranch with the 16.5 barrel, I must say it has been good to me. As a woods gun I don't think you can beat the knock down and swinging that short barrel in a deer stand man I'm hooked on the short barrel I actually picked up a 308 with the 16.5 barrel no turning back. What's the best for you guys, I know to well that opinions will vary.

The best caliber is the one you have. That being said, the best caliber is one that ammo is readily available for and you can shoot straight. That will also depend on the particular gun and the shooter. 308 and 30-06 are great calibers and ammo will be available for these 2 calibers if there is any ammo available at all.

no such thing as best, now reliable you betcha! All in the finger that squeeze that trigger and place that shot! This argument is as old as time. I try my darndest to be ethical at every attempt. No worries though the tent flaps shall open momentarily, and the experts will be in shortly pounding their chest telling you exactly which one, GLWS!
