Bill of Sale

Bill of Sale protects the buyer by providing some evidence the gun wasn't stolen. The seller doesn't need a copy. But, If you follow the ODT's pm system, both will have a paper trail, so a bill of sale is unnecessary and redundant. It took me a while to figure that out.

I'll fill one out. But none of the info will be true.

And you're too dumb to check it
This is true, there's at least a dozen ODTers that have a bill of sale with name clearly misspelled. Back in the early days when I went through that phase were you make a deal or two every week I was just signing my misspelled name on BIL's left and right.

LOL. How exactly does that work?

"LOL. How exactly does that work?"

Cop comes to the door and says your gun was used to commit a murder. You say you sold it before the murder. Cop says prove it, and you show (I mean your lawyer shows) a pm thread. Cop gets a search warrant for ODT records and finds that palmettomoon bought it. Or at least committed to a deal in a pm thread.

If I misunderstood the question, think of the old westerns where the guy is accused of stealing cattle, about to be hanged, and presents a bill of sale showing that he bought the cattle. Same as a Walmart receipt. "I didn't steal this crappy toaster -- here's my receipt."

BTW, you have to use the pm system and not go offline to texts until it's all been confirmed by pm. You go rogue and you lose the paper trail.
