The barrel on my tailgate has been fired plenty of times. I use the cap from a can of Edge shaving cream as a powder measure. Most of the time I fire them just for the sound. My kids and grandkids enjoy the show. As far as shooting powder on a good July 4th I will burn a can of Goex cannon powder or a can of Pyrodex.
