Bolt bounce issues AR15

Calm down there Mr fud, a psa di ar is hardly an engineer marvel, it has a FRT trigger in it because daddy government says i can't buy a real m4 so I'm having to make **** work

Drill the third hole and Shh.

Light primer strikes can most definitely be the FRT. They are not anywhere near to the most reliable fire control unit on the market.

I would drop a simple USGI-type trigger in it and see if that fixes the light strikes.

If you’re severely over-gassed, which is what I’m leaning towards, the adjustable gas block is a Band-Aid, at best. A 5.56 AR should not need an adjustable AR to run reliably suppressed and unsuppressed. It ain’t a .300Blk with subs and supers.

You’ve got so many variables going on that it hard to pinpoint what the culprit is. Suspect barrel, adjustable gas block, FRT, etc. Additionally, with all parts being equal, a 10.3” is the least reliable of the “standard” barrel lengths for an AR.

My professional opinion is to turn it into as close to a standard configuration as you can, and make THAT run. Then introduce some of the unnecessary BS one part at a time. Introduce a mod, make sure it runs. Then go to the next mod. As it stands, you’ve got a pile of non-spec, hard to control variables piled all together.

I see builds like this multiple times a week on my bench, with a myriad of issues keeping them from running reliably.

Bolt bounce, by itself, will not cause light primer strikes UNLESS you are pulling the trigger while the bolt is in mid-bounce.

I’m thinking your choice of FCU is the main cause of the light strikes.

What brand H3 buffer are you running? When you shake it, can you hear the weights rattle back and forth?

What is the brand and finish on your BCG?

That gas port is gonna need to be measured.

Did you buy this gun complete from PSA and modify it, or is it a home-build? If so, who built it?

I’ll say it again; bolt bounce, by itself, will not cause light primer strikes, unless the shooter pulls the trigger while the bolt is in the middle of the bounce.
