Bought my first: Aero Lower (now a build thread)

I PUT MINE TOGEATHER LAST WEEK ! GREAT FIT ! I USED WILSON FLUTED MATCH BARREL AND BOLT CARRIER , EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AERO !WAITING ON SIGHTS AND FIGURE OUT WHAT TYPE SCOPE THAT WILL WORK WELL WITH 168 GRAIN FEDERAL MATCH AMMO !
We’re you happy with the Wilson barrel and bcg? I just ordered the 16” fluted and the nickel boron bcg in .308 sight unseen and am a little nervous, as hard as things are to find I felt happy to get those for my aero upper and lower.

Very happy with them ! I’ve got a 6.8 that I built with Wilson fluted barrel as well ! Great accuracy, fit and finish! Bill stands behind his product as well ! I’ve been using them for a lot of work on colt 1911 pistols for last 12 years and great work and reasonable. I have only shot about 40 rounds through the 308 but it will put 5 shots in less than inch at hundred yards!

Sorry to keep bothering you but it sounds like you may have an informed opinion! I also have a dead air nomad titanium can coming for this build and the 16” barrel is the min, although the nomads have a reputation for low back pressure, do you think a adjustable block is the way to go?

Only can I have is 22 so I don’t know about that ! You can call Wilson combat and they can advise on that, I know they sell adjustable blocks and while putting it together would be time to add it!

Update: the LPK took 2 weeks to come (Druking tactical) and I had a stock assembly laying around. I also ordered and installed the ejection door/Forward assist.

Now I just got to source a barrel, adjustable gas block/tube, and rail.

Thoughts on 16" vs 18"?

What caliber are you building?

I’ve built quite a few .308’s and 6.5CM’s for customers, and at least one .243, using wholly Aero parts. No idea on accuracy, but the ones that I built have not come back in the shop with complaints.

I’d skip the adjustable gas block, especially on a gun that hasn’t been test fired and run yet.

It will take any standard forward assist....they aren’t caliber specific.

TruPrep is Aero’s largest “brick and mortar” retailer. May have Aero parts that you are looking for, as well as parts from other manufacturers.

I'm in the process of putting together an M5E1. OP hit on something I was going to ask about: adjustable gas blocks.

I'm using a 16" mid-length Ballistic Advantage barrel. I'm a BIG guy, so recoil isn't a real problem. I was just thinking an adjustable gas block would allow me to tune the rifle to run softer and cooler. I was looking at the following as possibilities. Thoughts?
