Bullet in the barrel!

This was done before it left S&W the first time. You are wasting your time and theirs. Buy some good ammo and don't give it another thought. There is no way this was caused by the pistol, it is 100% ammo related.
Agreed. Smith will always offer to inspect the weapon under warranty. All it will get you is a month or two without your gun in this case. They'll return it eventually and tell you that it's in spec. This is 100% an ammo related issue.
The problems I had with brass max was that the bullet wasn't crimped properly on 3 or 4 rds. The bullet would collapse inside the case causing it to jam.
Brass Maxx is complete trash ammo. I shot through 300 rounds of it and had constant failures to feed. The rounds would not go fully into battery due to poorly trimmed brass that was hanging up in the chamber. I shot up what I had and swore I'd never buy it again.

Good old Squib!
the most dangerous thing that can happen when firing a gun.
One should be made aware of this possibility before or as soon as one is learning to fire a weapon.
More weapons are destroyed by squibs than by over charges, double charges, etc.
get a soft metal (brass) rod slightly smaller than the bore and drive that projectile out.
check the barrel but it should not be hurt as the projectile is much softer than the barrel material. you need to learn to identify what a squib is before next time when its much, much worse on you and the gun.

Definitely sounds like a squib. I would expect it to very odd with factory produced ammo, but you never know. Usually the primer alone has enough energy to push the bullet about an inch down the barrel. How are your primer strikes? Don't know if a light strike would produce a light ignition, I think its more of an on/off thing... Did you notice any powder in the case when you ejected it?
Yup... same thing I was thinking...

Squib loads are very common. I have had failures with quite a few of the better known manufacturers of ammo. Just because you had failures with 2 different brands very close together does not mean it is your firearm. It can be a scary situation when it happens and the fact that you have recognized it both times and stopped immediately is actually a good thing. Aggravating yes, but still you had enough awareness of what was happening with your firearm to recognize a bad situation. It will happen to everyone at some point and time.

M&P Shield 9mm
So I was shooting this weekend and had a failure to eject. Come to find out the bullet barely made it into the barrel before it got lodged. Thank the good Lord it didn't make it 1/4" further down the barrel! Has anyone else had this issue with the Shields? I had a similar issue about a year ago with a Winchester white box round, this latest failure was with a Brass Max round from wally world.

Got this out of one of those Brass Max, I thought it was just a thing but now that you said what you said.

Maybe so .... him being without a firearm for however long it takes S&W to return it may be a GOOD thing.

Who said that's the only pistol I have. Not sure who pissed in your cherrios man. There's no need to start insulting people. If you don't have anything constructive to say then spend your time elsewhere.
