I wouldn't disagree with an assumption that it might have been the web developer's mistake; and that many, if not most, web developers/maintainers are not knowledgeable of the products...BUT, I do expect that a company will honor the price of a completed sale.
Had the opposite happened, and the CS Supervisor said the website price was an error, but we will honor the sale, I would have posted a discussion that praised their integrity and good business practice. Companies deserve credit and recognition for doing the right thing. In this case, however; if this had been an IDPA match, as the SO, I would have issued a Failure To Do Right (FTDR) penalty.
The purpose of my discussion in this thread was to make others aware that most likely, CheaperThanDirt will repeat this behavior in the future; and in my mind, makes it a place not to do business with.
I'm aware that many companies do not maintain a live inventory, and my call to CTD CS was originally to find out why the online status showed "on backorder" and learn when they expected to have the ammo in stock. The surprise and disappointment came when the representative explained what was really taking place.

i have bought two items from cheaper than dirt , and i didn't have any problem with service or shipping maybe i got lucky but i did notice in the book i got thursday every thing that is on sale or price reduced in the book it's available , online its backordered , or unavailable . The midway usa flyer paper i got friday it's totally the opposite . C T D can't be out of the item in a matter of 2 day's i think something's up there probably false advertising to get you to the site
Have'nt done buisness with them in years due to higher shipping and 2-3 wks to get orders. But i still get catalogs like every other week from them.

2 to 3 WEEKS!!! WHAT! I would have canceled after a day and a half. Midway ships SAME DAY if you get the order in before 4pm. 2 weeks... um no.
I haven't done business with them, and probably never will. Their prices aren't cheap at all. I guess dirt must be pretty expensive these days.
yeah no kidding. They should change their name to cheaper than gold.
